In this episode Alice Dawkins, a graduate of the Australian National University currently on a long-term study program in Myanmar, discusses the inimitable Professor Ting Tso-Shao and the state of Kengtung, Shan State, in the 1950s. Kengtung was not merely a "frontier" region of then "democratic" Burma, but was also a core polity deeply intertwined with Chinese and pan-Asian history.
